As you begin to think about your hiring needs for 2023 and beyond, there are four easy tips you can follow to ensure your search goes as smoothly as possible.

  1. Identify the needs of the practice or department: In today’s neurosurgery market, more and more neurosurgeons are subspecializing. Knowing what possible case-mix might be available to a new hire will go a long way toward enhancing your listing.
  2. Make sure everyone is on the same page about the recruitment process: Other physicians at the practice need to know that the recruitment is happening and work toward the same goal—hiring the right candidate!
  3. Respond to interested, qualified candidates as soon as possible to make a positive first impression: Neurosurgeons are interviewing you as much as you are interviewing them. Identifying a process before you begin the recruitment so you know who will reach out to the contact quickly will let applicants know you are serious about hiring.
  4. Most importantly: Keep the process moving! There are significantly more neurosurgery opportunities available than there are neurosurgeons who are seeking new positions, so keep your candidates updated about your timeline and next steps.
