Tell us something about your organization

I recently joined Houston Methodist as the System Service Line Administrator for Neuroscience. I am responsible for strategic initiatives and activities within the service line.

Houston Methodist Hospital is ranked No. 23 by US news and world report for neurology and neurosurgery. The Neurological Institute is one of Houston Methodist six centers of excellence- emphasizing medical care, research, and academics. The neurological institute (HMNI) is recognized as a research leader, with teams involved in developing new treatments, drugs and clinical trials for disorders, including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and brain tumors. HMNI offers the most advanced and innovative neurological care to patients worldwide.

The organization has a great value system with innovation being a huge part of the DNA. I am truly honored to be part of this incredible organization that is regularly looking at ways to improve the life of the people and communities we serve.

Past jobs/experiences led up to this role

Prior to my current role, I was the Director of Neurosurgery and Spine Service line at Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City, MO.  In that position, I worked alongside physician leaders to develop and implement system-wide strategies focusing on growth and excellence in critical areas such as spine, epilepsy, skull base tumors, and neuro-oncology services.

Before joining Neurosciences, I held other positions within the same health system such as System Manager for Ethics, Compliance and Privacy and Clinical Social Worker for the Cardiac Transplant and LVAD Programs.

 # of years as a NERVES member? How NERVES has helped you with the struggles or successes?

I have been a member of NERVES since 2018. I regularly reach out to NERVES members on listserv with variety of questions. The members always come through to help and answer any type of queries related to the field of neurosurgery. I have also been on multiple phone calls with various members sharing and collaborating on best practices.

What do you like to do in your free time?

We stay very busy during the week and as such look forward to spending quality time with family and friends on weekends.  As we recently moved to Houston, we have been exploring all the restaurants, running trails and kids’ activities such as splash pads, water parks and museums. I love how diverse the city is and there is so much to do and so much to see here.
